Fruits for Flat Belly

Flattening belly is challenging. Proper food can contribute a lot in flattening belly. The more specific we can learn about food that helps flatten belly, the easier it gets to flatten stomach. There is ongoing research on what food or fruits are better at blasting fat than others. Such research suggests that some fruits are actually better than others in losing belly fat. Interestingly these fat-blasting fruits are usually reddish in color. To speed up losing belly fat we can rely on these master fruits.


Rube Red Grapefruit

Grapefruit turns out to be helpful in flattening belly, as pointed out by a study in the journal of Metabolism. Eating half a grapefruit before meals may help reduce visceral fat and lower cholesterol levels. Those who participated in the study, ate grapefruit before every meal, found that their waists shrunk by up to an inch. According to researchers, combination of phytochemicals and vitamin C in grapefruit is what causes the positive effect. They also suggested that the more colorful the fruits are the more phytochemicals will be in the fruits.

Tart Cherries

Tart cherries are considered superpower fruit. Rats fed tart cherries show a 9 % belly fat reduction over rats fed a standard diet, as found out by twelve-week study at University of Michigan. Furthermore, researchers pointed out that cherries can significantly manipulate the expression of fat genes.

Raspberries, Strawberries, Blueberries

These fruits have many Polyphenols, which are powerful natural chemicals that can prevent fat from forming. Three daily servings of berries for mice decrease formation of fat cells by up to 73 percent, as found by researchers in a study at Texas Woman’s University. Another study at the University of Michigan found that blueberry powder mixed meal resulted in reduction in abdominal fat for rats. Resveratrol found in Blueberries has positive effects on the epigenetic mechanisms that prompt weight gain and fatty liver.

Pink Lady Apples

Apples are fiber rich fruits. A study at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center found that soluble fiber could result in reduction in visceral fat.


Watermelon may help improve lipid profiles and lower fat accumulation, as indicated by research at University of Kentucky. Study on athletes at Universidad Politecnica de Cartagena in Spain, suggests that watermelon juice may help reduce muscle soreness.

Plums, Peaches and Nectarines

Studies at Texas AgriLife Research points out that plums, peaches and nectarines may help regulate belly fat, high cholesterol and insulin resistance. Powerful phenolic compounds of these fat-blasting fruits may help maneuver the expression of fat gene. These fruits also have lowest amount of sugars, compared to other fruits.

Green Apple

Researchers at University of Washington found out that Granny Smith apple has fat-blasting properties.
