Burning calories and burning fats aren’t the same thing. To understand the difference here at first you need to know about calorie burning process as well as the causes that burn fats that are stored in the body. But remember that you’re always burning calories when you do something. Keep in mind that almost 3,500 calories need to be burnt more than consumption if you want to burn around just 0.5 kilograms of fat. Here, you're actually burning both calories and fat. In this way, you’re forcing your body to access stored energies in fat cells. At the same time, it also means that your body is using more calories from total consumption and storing less of them.

Some factors are necessary to be fulfilled in order for the body to burn stored fat. At first, Oxygen is required to reach to fat reserves. Now to get that necessary oxygen, you need to keep the heart rate in a target zone. The targeted heart rate is different from individual to individual but can be achieved the same manner through aerobic exercise also knows as cardio exercise. Aerobic refers to “with air” and air being Oxygen. After the aerobic workout, you can move on to anaerobic exercise such as weight training. This is necessary to continue to get into stored fat cells. This anaerobic exercise helps to increase body metabolism. In this way, it will help the body continue to burn the stored fat. This happens even while you’re at rest.

Diet and exercise play crucial role in burning fats. In this case, you need to create calorie deficit in your body. You can do that by reducing caloric intake. At the same time, you’ve to increase the level of physical activity. Alternatively, you can combine both of these. A body always keeps burning calories to support its metabolism, digestion process and different physical activities. To maintain a calorie deficit, fats are burnt in the body.
