Calorie Issues

Calories are the most vital thing to know while you are on the way to lose weight or flat stomach. Since you had gained a bloated belly and overweight body, it’s the most important fact to bring changes in your body structure. This term is little bit complicated though. But, you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to understand the basis things about calorie.

If you are good at calorie budget and determine to achieve your goal, then I bet you will be successful in someday.

Wherever you are going to buy packed foods, certainly you will find a food label attached to that. This label is all about the nutrition facts of that particular food. What may seem little complex to you. But, if you can understand this label once, then it will be very easy to determine all of label in other foods.  Calorie is considered as bold information in nutrition facts. Many of us seem to evaluate the food value upon the amount of calories on that particular item. Now, let’s know about the term calorie and what it means to be.


I can write down quite a number of words to make you understand about the calories. But, lengthy description may lead you less understanding about this term. That is why I am going to simply describe about the term calorie.

Basically, calorie is a unit of energy. Though it is very much associated with foods but it can be applied to anything containing energy. For instance, 1 liter of gasoline contains 7750000 calories. In terms of physical sciences, specifically calorie means the amount of energy which can help to raise the temperature of 1 gm of water to 1 degree Celsius. It can also be compared with the Joules (1 cal= 4.184 Joules), a very common unit of energy in science.

If you consume 1gm of protein or carbohydrate, then it will produce 4 calories of energies in return. On the other hand if you consume 1gm of fat, then it will produce 9 calories of energies in return. So, fat is certainly a calorie rich food than protein and carbohydrate.

Function of calorie

If you are concerned more or less about the overweight or bloated stomach, then it’s high time to know about the functionality of calorie. In my previous discussion of metabolism part I had delivered a term named BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate= 2000-2200 Calories). It is a continuous process which necessarily means that either you are idle or active, your body is going to burn a good amount of calories overtime to help the physiological processes make happen properly. These are like pumping blood, digestion, breathing and so forth.

Therefore, scientifically it is proved that calorie needed for the proper functionality of your body. More precisely, calorie is like the fuel of your body. As the food is the source of calorie, on daily basis you need to gather a good amount of calories by consuming foods.
